If you were to make a list of topics that are important to Tieks CEO Kfir Gavrieli, female empowerment would undoubtedly be at the top.

This shows in nearly everything he does – including Tieks itself. Tieks is an innovative brand that designs and sells a sophisticated line of women’s flat shoes, known for their intricate spilt-sole construction and high-quality materials.

Customers love the comfort and portability of Tieks. The company has been recognized by major publications like Forbes, where it was named one of the 25 most innovative consumer brands; Inc., where Gavrieli made the 30 Under 30 list; and Entrepreneur, among others.

But for Kfir Gavrieli, simply putting out an exceptional product for women isn’t nearly enough to prove his commitment to the cause. Through his various philanthropic efforts and with The Gavrieli Foundation, he does his part to elevate women all over the world.

The Importance of Female Empowerment

In addition to supporting the women who work for Tieks, Kfir Gavrieli has shown his dedication to female empowerment through the Gavrieli Foundation. Since its inception, the Gavrieli Foundation has proudly become the largest individual lender on the charity site, Kiva. In total, the Foundation has sent more than $10 million to female entrepreneurs living in poverty.

“The Gavrieli Foundation leverages the ingenuity, passion, and energy of entrepreneurial women around the globe,” states the foundation’s website. “The Gavrieli Foundation has become the single largest lender on [charity website] Kiva worldwide.”

Helping Ukraine

This is just one of many examples of Kfir Gavrieli and his dedication to philanthropy. Recently, Tieks held a virtual auction to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.

“Our community wants to contribute to the Ukrainian people in a meaningful way, and I am humbled that my company can serve as a conduit for such a meaningful purpose through this auction,” Gavireli said.

The auction saw the release of limited edition and one-of-a-kind ballet flats — the perfect opportunity for the participants to give back. Over the course of the four-day bidding period, the rare auction had raised more than $87,000.

This was a big deal for fans of the brand, as limited-edition shoes are usually released under rare circumstances. For example, Tieks typically releases limited-edition flats on Black Friday and sell out before the end of the weekend.

A few short hours after the auction went live, fans and supporters had already bid thousands of dollars in total. Several pairs were auctioned off, including some that Tieks had never sold to the public. A few coveted pairs went for $5,000, while another hit the $6,500 mark.

Gavrieli revealed that the charitable giving and support for Ukraine over the past few months inspired him to host this auction. He followed the #ChefsForUkraine hashtag and saw the hard work and dedication on display. It was with that in mind that he launched the #TieksforUkraine hashtag — both as a show of solidarity and to make it easier to raise as much money as he could for those refugees.

Feeding Refugees

In addition to the auction, Tieks put together a raffle that saw one lucky winner walking away with a pair of shoes titled “Mirage” — another one-of-a-kind pair with proceeds from the raffle going directly to benefit refugees. Some pairs of Tieks flats that have been off the market for years were also a part of the event.

Those funds were donated directly to celebrity chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen. It’s estimated that this money will provide nearly 20,000 free meals to families in Ukraine. Some of those meals will also be donated to eight locations where refugees are crossing the border, including in Poland and Hungary.

“The Tieks community is very proud to enable World Central Kitchen to provide tens of thousands of meals for Ukrainians braving this unimaginable war,” Gavrieli said.

Tieks CEO, Kfir Gavrieli goes out of his way to help people in need – including providing masks to front-line workers – and will continue to do so in the future. Gavrieli believes that we all have a social responsibility to help one another in any way we can. Through his philanthropy, he’s proven that incredible things can happen when we all stop to help others.
